This is the fifth post in our ongoing blog designed to keep you informed about the technical upgrade portion of the .au Registry Transformation Project.

This post introduces Mr. Patrick “Pat” Donaldson, Afilias’ Operations Manager for Australia.

A critical part of Afilias’ plans for upgrading the technology for .au is the establishment of a fully staffed office in Melbourne.  Leading that effort is Pat Donaldson, an experienced domain professional known around the industry as a knowledgeable, effective, straight shooter who is customer focused and easy to work with.  Pat will head up all operational aspects of the upgrade, working closely with Afilias’ senior management and technical teams.

Pat has an MBA degree and over 15 years of business experience, the most recent 8 years in leadership positions in the domain industry.  He is very familiar with both registry and registrar aspects of the business, as well as the global ICANN policy environment. An Australian by choice, Pat moved to Melbourne in 2013, fell in love with it, became a Permanent Resident in 2016 and is soon to be a full on Australian citizen.

Pat’s looking forward to expanding his relationships with .au registrars and ensuring that they have all the tools they need to support .au smoothly through the transition to the upgraded platform.

On the personal side, Pat and his wife Sara just had their first child --Jack—in April, 2017, and Jack is a dual US/AU citizen.  Pat’s coffee of choice is Long Black, and he loves to run, play golf and play footy at his local club, the Brunswick Mudlarks.  His favourite AFL team is the North Melbourne Kangaroos (Go Kangas!).

Pat may be reached at pdonaldson@afilias.com.au .  Drop him a line and say hello!

Afilias will be recruiting experienced service and technical people in the coming weeks—stay tuned for further details.
