This is the second post in our ongoing blog designed to keep you informed about the technical upgrade portion of the .au Registry Transformation Project.
This post focusses on introducing Afilias Australia Pty Ltd (Afilias APL), as many members of the internet community in Australia may not be familiar with us.
Afilias APL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Afilias plc, an Ireland-based international provider of registry services to support internet top level domains (TLDs). Afilias supports 22M registrations across over 200 TLDs including established TLDs like .org, new generic TLDs like .global, new geo-TLDs like .vegas, dot brand TLDs like .audi and 16 country code TLDs like .in (India), .me (Montenegro) and .pr (Puerto Rico).
Afilias has worked for years with many Australian registrars like Melbourne IT, GoDaddy, Instra, and PDR, providing TLDs like .org, .info and more. We look forward to ensuring the technical upgrades in .au make things easier and more efficient for them.
Afilias APL will be headed up by John Kane, an industry veteran of over 18 years with experience in both the registrar and registry parts of the business.
John will be supported by Ram Mohan, Afilias’ CTO and Executive Vice President. Ram is responsible for all of Afilias’ technologies, and will ensure that .au has state of the art security.
Steve Heflin, Afilias’ VP Sales will support John by helping registrars benefit from the transformation with better service, better programs, and better access to the registry.
Roland LaPlante, Afilias’ CMO will support John with marketing and sales support programs to help registrars grow their .au business to its full potential.
Jonathan Robinson, the Executive Chairman of Afilias’ Board of Directors, will oversee the upgrades and keep the Afilias board appraised of progress.
And, of course, we are actively recruiting for experienced professionals for Afilias Australia’s team in Melbourne, and we’ll be featuring profiles in the coming posts.
More information on Afilias plc is located at www.afilias.info. And we’ll soon expand this blog site to include everything about Afilias Australia Pty Ltd.!
