As recently announced on channellife.com.au and ecovoice.com.au, our team at Identity Digital has partnered with Trillion Trees Australia to plant 25,000 trees over the next 4 years in a Whiteman-Park owned property in Western Australia. The project aims to aid restoration of the natural environment and reduce carbon emissions by enhancing air quality, ensuring sustained groundwater and helping to prevent bushfires.
Trillion Trees Australia is a not-for-profit organisation committed to restoring landscapes, rebuilding habitat for wildlife, and empowering people to take tangible action against the impacts of climate change through education and community engagement. Each year, together with thousands of volunteers, Trillion Trees works to restore wetlands, rebuild bushland, and grow native trees and plants in its community nursery. They have planted over 15 million native trees across Western Australia in an effort to combat salinity and soil erosion, improve biodiversity and provide habitat for native species.
Patrick Donaldson, Country Manager at Identity Digital Australia is enthusiastic about the partnership. “This relationship with Trillion Trees solidifies our commitment to giving back to the planet and supporting standout Australian organisations in the work that they do.”
Trillion Trees Australia also serves as an ecological restoration charity, healing landscapes and building communities through their love of trees. The charity is empowering future generations through education programs that teach people the value of trees in fighting the impact of climate change. CEO Mark Hullett says “We are thrilled to partner with Identity Digital and proud to have Patrick and the team join us as ambassadors for trees through the planting of our wonderful site at Guildford Meadows near Perth. This property is planted out by Trillion Trees Australia volunteers, with two hectares and over 6,000 trees being planted each season courtesy of our four-year Partnership.”
While tree planting will commence next year, our funding allocation is currently being used to propagate the trees before they are planted in June 2025, when conditions in the wetlands are optimal. Tree propagation is a crucial part of the planting process and while we can’t see the work going on behind the scenes, in 1-2 years we will see the first allocation coming into fruition.
Chief Strategy Officer at Identity Digital, Ram Mohan, explains how this project will assist in meeting Identity Digital’s sustainability objectives and be of benefit to everyone involved. “We aim to go further, in Australia and beyond. Which is why we are working with key suppliers and partners such as auDA to co-create innovative sustainability strategies. Together, we will drive positive change and make a powerful impact across Australia.”
